Visite-atelier enfant "bling-Bling: le torque gaulois" - Musée de la Romanité

The torque was a very important item of Gallic jewellery. As a symbol of strength and power for men and sophistication for women, it was worn by both and was an indication of social status and wealth. Today we might say that the torque was a type of ancient bling! It was a solid piece of jewellery that could be decorated with valuable elements (precious stones, skilled decorative workmanship, etc.) which one displayed with pride. After a tour of the collections to see various examples, parents and children will be able to try their hand at making their very own torque.
