The Etruscan thalassocracy – or marine empire – pushed this navigating people far beyond the Italic maritime space where they lived between the 9th and 1st centuries BC. Apart from the temporary presence of some Etruscan communities in Southern France trading posts, the only documented long-term stable Etruscan occupation outside the Italic peninsula was in Corsica. Underestimated by scientific literature for a long time, current research is once again exploring the Etruscan presence in Corsica. This talk presents existing knowledge about ancient excavations, historical texts,and most importantly, all the latest archaeological research.
