The emperor Hadrian was an insatiable traveller and was lucky enough to live at the time when the Roman Empire was stable and at its peak. This inquisitive emperor was keen on the arts, Greek philosophy and literature and was also a great traveller who spent almost ten years, half of his reign, wandering the western world, as well as other, more remote provinces of his empire, in an effort to get to know them better and to therefore rule them better. This show is an invitation to discover ancient sciences and knowledge in terms of geography, sailing, mapping and astronomy. The audience will have the chance to see reproductions of maps, navigation tools, astronomy devices and scale-models of ships used by the scholars and sailors serving Hadrian.
