For 20 years now, commissioned by Nîmes city council, the experts from INRAP have been pooling their resources to find out as much as possible about the amphitheatre of ancient Nemausus. Archaeological excavation, building studies, and topographical surveys are carried out every year as part of the restoration work on the monument. In partnership with Jean-Claude Golvin, the scientific documentation produced by the archaeologists helped create an exact copy of the amphitheatre from ancient times, and revealed how it was actually built.
