Musée des Cultures Taurines

Close to the Arena, and opposite the Musée de la Romanité gardens, the Musée des Culture Taurines houses the Town of Nîmes’ bullfighting collections, an important and unique collection in France with historic, scientific, artistic and ethnographic value.

This museum opens its doors from Whit weekend until the Harvest festival, and the collections are exhibited over three levels, all centred around the Camargue bull and bullfighting traditions. This museum also houses some pieces on this theme from the Musée du Vieux Nîmes, as well as some items owned by Henriette and Claude Viallat and friends of the museum. A whole room is devoted to maestro José Tomas, based on the historic corrida of the 12th September 2002 at the Arena of Nîmes.
